Marion H. Taylor

March 20, 2020

Marion H. Taylor, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2020.  Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Sarah (Ford) Hanley. Marion worked in several banks over the years, including People's, Hospital Trust and finally at Citizens before retiring in 1993.  She also worked as a teacher aide in the Providence Public School system. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Anthony's Church in Providence and was an active member of the Lady of Fatima Society.   She loved to sing and dance and could often be heard singing ballads or found dancing to tunes played on her old Victrola.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search, and especially the Word Jumble in the evening bulletin.  She had a fondness for Rhode Island beaches and coffee-flavored anything.  Marion enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly referred to as "the baby grands".  She had an incredible memory for birth dates, for her immediate family as well as her extended family of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her four children, Michael Taylor,  Sherry Gubata,  Sally Taylor and Jacqueline Vanasse and her husband Skip; her sister, Helen Simmons; four grandchildren, Jill Royer and Marlene, Kate and Christopher Gubata; and four great-grandchildren, Edward, Elizabeth, Eamon and Charles.   She was the former wife of the late William C. Taylor, mother-in-law of the late Paul Gubata and sister of the late Patricia Kenney. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Eaton St., Providence.  Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
