Esther Twardowski

March 27, 1932 — May 8, 2025

Esther E. (Gaito) Twardowski, 93, of Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Twardowski, Sr. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (DeDonato) Gaito.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Esther is survived by her children: Thomas J. Twardowski, Jr., David M. Twardowski and his wife Linda, Robert S. Twardowski and his wife Susan, and Carol A. Twardowski-Heap. She also leaves behind her sister, Ann Marie Salvati; seven cherished grandchildren: Kristen, David, Thomas III, Ryan, Robert M., Scott, and Mandy; and her eight adored great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Rita Vingi.

Esther dedicated many years of service as executive assistant to the Chancellor of Brown University before retiring. In her later years, she generously volunteered her time as an administrative assistant at St. Pius V Church in Providence.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2025, from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton Street, Providence. Interment will take place at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
