Ronald Potter, 84, of Johnston, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at Cherry Hill Manor. He was the beloved husband of Rosalyn (Patalano) Potter for nearly 60 years. Born in Providence and raised in Cranston, he was the son of the late Harris Potter, Sr. and Marie (Grady) Potter.
Mr. Potter was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He joined the Rhode Island State Police in 1958 and retired as a Lieutenant after 20 years of distinguished service. He then spent 10 years as a Special Agent for the National Automobile Theft Bureau. In addition, he and his son Bruce partnered in opening a successful health club.
Ron was an avid sports fan, especially of all the New England teams. But nothing was more important to him than his family. He was a true representation of a son, brother, husband, father, friend, and most of all, a hero to all that knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his two children, Bruce Potter and Lesley (Potter) Mahoney and her husband Don; and a brother, James Potter. He was the brother of the late Robert Potter, Harris Potter, Jr, David Potter, Anne Crossley and Jayne Potter.
The family wishes to thank the “Angels of Cherry Hill Manor” for their superior and compassionate care during Ron’s time there.
Mr. Potter’s funeral and burial with Military Honors will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047. lbda.org
