Thomas A. Kennedy, 87, of North Providence, passed away on October 5, 2025, at The Miriam Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Russo) Kennedy, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Born in Providence, Tom was the son of the late Leo and Ann (Halpin) Kennedy.

He was a graduate of St. Raphael Academy in 1955 and went on to earn his degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1960, where he was an active member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He also graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

After graduating from URI, Tom attended U.S. Navy Officer Training School in Newport, RI, and went on to serve his country as a navigator aboard the USS Calvert in the Pacific, stationed out of San Diego.

Tom's professional career spanned multiple industries, where he held several leadership roles. He began as an area manager for International Harvester, later becoming Vice President at Old Stone Bank and First Vice President at Hospital Trust Bank. Additionally, Tom worked as a consultant in commercial development.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was beloved by all who knew him for his kind, caring nature and unwavering integrity. Whether in his career or personal life, Tom’s commitment to helping others was evident in everything he did. Known for his generosity, wisdom, and compassion, he consistently put others first and left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

A dedicated community servant, Tom served as president of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce in 1978 and held a term as president of the American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island. He was also an active member of the What Cheer and Adelphoi #33 Masonic Lodges. Tom found great fulfillment as a member of The Church of the Master in Providence, where he led the Community Feeding Ministry for those in need, alongside his wife.

Above all, Tom was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their four children: Kimberly Doorley (James), Dale Kennedy (Barbara), Kristen Arruda (Rev. Barry), and David Kennedy (Jennifer), along with eight cherished grandchildren: Samantha Kennedy, Elijah Kennedy, Rachel Arruda Wright (Mitchell), Caleb Arruda, William Arruda, Annie Arruda, Zachary Kennedy, and Joshua Kennedy. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Saunders.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home,1381 Smith Street, North Providence. A funeral service celebrating Tom’s life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Master, 15 Valley Street, Providence. Interment with military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston.
