Therese (Callahan) Speakman, 91, of North Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Speakman. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Myatt) Callahan. Mrs. Speakman worked for the State of Rhode Island as Secretary to the Director of Fiscal Affairs for many years before starting her family. She also worked at Roger Williams Medical Center and was a volunteer for the Little Sisters of the Poor. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother she is survived by three sons, Paul Speakman and his wife Kathleen, Nicholas Speakman and Charles Speakman and his wife Dot; three daughters, Irene Pellegrino, Mary Speakman and her husband Zan Sarkisian, Jr. and Rita McGovney; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Williamson and Rita Hebert; six grandchildren, Mario Pellegrino, Gina Pellegrino Hanrahan, Christopher Speakman, Benjamin Speakman, Nicole Rochette and Mikki McGovney; and five great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Charles Callahan and Mary Foersch. Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
