Therese M. Hamel

Therese M. Hamel (Fontaine), 86, of Smithfield, passed away Wednesday July 19, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was the beloved wife of the late Norman R. Hamel. Born in Smithfield, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice (LaBeau) Fontaine. Therese was a textile winder at Worcester Textile for many years. She was a hard working woman who was very devoted to her family. She is survived by her daughters, Jo-Ann Cole, Denise Themuda and Diane Deware; her son, Andre J. Hamel; three step-sons, David, Norman and Michael Hamel; two step-daughters, Theresa Featherston and Twilha Halvorson; a brother, Edward Fontaine, two sisters, Cecile "Ce" Martineau and Claire Hamel; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was the step-mother of the late Robert Hamel and sister of the late Florence Coulombe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Ave, Smithfield. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours Tuesday 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
