Raymond E. Gallison, Sr.

December 8, 1931 — December 4, 2022

Raymond E. Gallison, Sr., age 90, of North Providence, RI passed away December 4, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence on December 8 1931, he was the son of Germaine (Petit) and Joseph Gallison.

Raymond was the beloved husband of Barbara (San Antonio) for 71 years and loving father to Raymond Jr. (Diane) Gallison, Deborah (Stephen) Smith, Kenneth (Kaley) Gallison, and adoring “Grampie” to his grandchildren Timothy (Noelle) Gallison, Nathan (Jennifer) Gallison, Alyssa (Corey) Jackson, Kathryn Gallison, and Kieran Gallison. He was a great grandfather to Camden, Nolan, and Colton Gallison. He was also an uncle and great uncle to several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister, Claire Labadie. He is predeceased by his sister, Marie Desnoyers.

Raymond graduated from La Salle Academy in Providence, RI in 1949. A talented and entrepreneurial businessman, Raymond purchased Newport Plate and Mirror Glass in 1966. He took great pride in his business, and could often be found in “the back of the shop” glazing glass with precision until his early eighties.

Outside of his work, Raymond was a member of several social and community organizations. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Lymansville fire department for many years. He was an active member of the Rhode Island Builders Association and Renaissance Alliance Lodge #1966. He was also a lifetime member of the Alpine Country Club. Raymond was an excellent softball player and in his later years, loved to golf. One of his greatest joys was boating, taking family and friends out on excursions to Newport, Block Island, and his favorite home away from home – Martha’s Vineyard.

Most who knew Raymond remember him fondly for his quick wit and lighthearted charm. He would do anything for a smile, including dressing up as Santa Claus for his grandchildren nearly every Christmas Eve. He was happiest when he was surrounded by family, sharing laughs and a meal at the head of his dining room table. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence.
