Obituary

Paul J. Vierling, 74, passed on away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength that will not be forgotten. He was the loving son of the late Rita Vierling (Cassidy) and Anthony J. Vierling.

Paul was the devoted husband of 47 years to his beloved wife, Mary Jeznach-Vierling. Together, they built a life grounded in deep love, unwavering partnership, and immense joy. Alongside their enduring bond, Paul and Mary shared a spirit of fun and humor that carried them through the years, filling their life together with laughter and countless memories.

Paul was a proud and loving father to his daughters, Kristin Blasbalg and her husband Gregory Blasbalg, and Kate Vierling-Mungillo and her husband Jay Mungillo. He was an adoring Opa to his grandchildren—Daniel, Alexander, and Delaney Blasbalg, and Ethan, Callen, and Alina Mungillo—who brought him immense joy and pride. He was known as a true “baby whisperer,” with a natural gift for comforting and connecting with even the youngest members of the family.

He was a cherished brother to Gretchen Vierling Cutlip, Barbara Vierling, and Virginia Vierling, and was predeceased by his brother, Charles Vierling.

Professionally, Paul was an exceptional nurse and a trailblazer in his field. He approached his work with skill, compassion, and quiet dedication, earning the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of those in his care. His quick wit and vast knowledge of trivia made him a joy to be around—there was rarely a question he couldn’t answer or a moment he couldn’t brighten with humor.

Paul was also known for his handiness and willingness to help others. Whether fixing something around the house or lending a hand to a friend, he did so with sincerity and care. He was genuine in every sense of the word—what you saw was what you got, and people loved him for it.

He found peace and happiness by the ocean, a place that reflected his calm spirit and deep appreciation for life’s simple, meaningful moments.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.
