Orsolina"Vicky" Scungio

January 18, 1931 — December 27, 2025

Orsolina “Victoria Scungio, 94, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Santina (Fontana) Testa. She is survived by her sister, Norma LoPresti, and her husband, Joseph, and by her brother, Aldo Testa, and his wife, Barbara.

Vicky was the devoted wife of the late Benjamin “Ben” Scungio, with whom she shared 74 wonderful years of marriage. They first met when Vicky was 15 years old, while both were being treated for tuberculosis at the Wallum Lake facility in Burrillville. From their first date, when she was 17, they were inseparable and remained so throughout their lives.

Vicky earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Johnson & Wales. She was the co-owner, along with her husband, of B.S. Appliance in East Greenwich for many years before retiring. They both enjoyed interacting with their customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. For many years, their business was considered a fixture on Main Street.

Together, Ben and Vicky raised two children, Lorraine and Ben. The couple loved working together and spending time with each other. They spent much of their time with their siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Vicky enjoyed cooking and baking and was known especially for her Easter cookies and her Christmas feasts, including fruitcake, which everyone loved. Throughout her life, she was a devoted wife and beloved mother.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine, and her husband, Arthur, and by her son, Ben, and his wife, Janet. She was the cherished grandmother of Jonathan Annear; Jennifer Simeone and her husband, Michael; Benjamin T. Scungio and his wife, Ashley; Matthew Scungio; and Jason Palazzo and his wife, Kim. She will be dearly missed by her great-grandchildren: Emma Ibsen, Giuliana Simeone, Jack Ibsen, Arthur Annear, Sophia Scungio, Domenic Scungio, Breanna Palazzo, and Victoria Palazzo.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Road, Johnston. Interment will follow at Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Vicky’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
