Nancy M. (Centracchio) Ganem, 61, of North Providence, passed away peacefully at the home of her sister, Lisa, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous battle against ALS with incredible strength, grace, and dignity. Prior to her diagnosis of ALS, Nancy was living with MS for 25 years.
Born in Providence, Nancy was the daughter of the late John F. and Lucille M. (Antonelli) Centracchio.
She began her 20 years of dedicated service at the Women’s Medical Center of Providence as a medical secretary, eventually assuming the role of administrator until retiring.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Peter; her dog Smedley; her cherished siblings, Charlene J. Centracchio, Lisa DeAngelis and her husband David, and J. Mitch Centracchio (Ret. N.P.F.D.), and his wife Carla; as well as her treasured nephews, David and Mitch DeAngelis, and Tony, Dylan, and Colby Centracchio.
Nancy cherished the special bonds she held with her closest friends and relatives. She was a beacon for warmth and fond memories. Nancy had an infectious smile, laugh, energy, and sense of humor; surpassed by her zest for life and great love for others. The love she exhibited to others left all who knew her feeling loved in return. Nancy’s many interests and favorite pastimes included being a diehard Patriots fan, an avid watcher of horror movies and gangster films, and a lover of animals, especially her own dogs. Her homemade Jell-O shots and trifle desserts were well known and enjoyed amongst her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Interment will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
