Mariejane Breguet, 101, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2012. Born in Switzerland September 25, 1910 to the late Rudolph and Jeanne Schmid, she is survived by children, Suzanne Appleton of Hebron, NH, John Breguet of Smithfield, RI and Catherine Hanni of Providence RI as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Tiny Gaillard and brother, Francois Cordey live in Switzerland, as did her late brother Rudolf Schmid.
Mariejane lived a full life, living on three continents, traveling extensively, speaking five languages fluently. She loved gardening, entertaining, all manner of sports and the outdoors. Other hobbies included painting, ceramics, bridge, and joining Francophiles at the Alliance Francaise, among others, sun-worship being prime. Mariejane was an accomplished and successful artist. She had a studio in Switzerland where she produced beautiful painted porcelain. In the US she designed jewelry and commemorative coins, one of which was used for the Apollo space mission and another by Disney World. She will be missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, from 5 to 7 PM Friday, August 10th . A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
