MARIE A. (PANTALONE) PAULSON, 86, of North Providence, RI, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at home. She was the wife of the late Harry C. Paulson, and the daughter of the late Vincent and Antonetta (Caione) Pantalone.
Marie graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1946 and the University of Rhode Island in 1950, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. At URI, Marie met Harry, the love of her life, and together they enjoyed 49 years of marriage.
Marie was an educator in the Providence School System for 23 years, beloved by kindergarteners at Smith Street, Little Mount Pleasant, Regent Avenue, and Carl G. Lauro Elementary Schools. After her retirement from teaching, Marie worked with her sisters at Vincent’s Specialty Store on Federal Hill in Providence. She also became an active member of the Salvatore Mancini Center, where she enjoyed dancing, swimming, and yoga.
Marie is survived by her son Steven Paulson and his wife Cindy of North Providence; son David Paulson and his wife Donna of Hudson, New York; daughter Anne Shields and her husband Joseph of Pomfret, Connecticut; grandchildren Eric, Jessica, Kyle, Christopher, Kim, and Amy; and great-grandchildren Isabella, Elizabeth, Hayleigh, and Jacob. She was pre-deceased by her sisters Grace Sarcione, Rita Mainelli, and Norma Walsh.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius V Church, Eaton St., Providence. Visiting Hours will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence. Burial will be in Acotes Hill Cemetery in Chepachet. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cheyenne River Indian Outreach for Children, P.O. Box 500, Chamberlain, SD 57325 would be appreciated.
