Leo A. Banti

January 31, 1932 — January 21, 2022

Leo A. Banti, 89, a lifelong resident of Providence, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022. He was the husband of the late Dorothy A. (Gemma) Banti. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giulio and Annita (Bernardoni) Banti.

He was a Navy veteran during the Korean War and went on to serve his community for 20 years as a Providence police officer. After retiring, he worked in the security departments of Fleet Bank and Providence College. He loved and coached baseball for most of his life and was an avid fisherman. Above all else, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed.

He is survived by his son, Leo J. Banti and his wife Jennifer; his daughters, Christina L. Banti, and Victoria A. Durban and her husband Warren, and three grandchildren, Amanda Davis and Erica and Luke Banti. He was the father of the late Donna M. Davis.

His funeral will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 9 AM from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Ghost Church, Atwells Ave, Providence. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leo's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project Donor Care Center, PO Box 758541, Topeka, KS 66675.
