Lawrence L. Raso

August 13, 1920 — April 24, 2017

RASO, LAWRENCE L, Raso, 96 "Be not afraid, I go before you always Come follow me and I will give you rest." A true gentleman and family man, Lawrence went home to the Lord on April 24, 2017.  He was the beloved husband of 74 years to Mary (Califano) Raso. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Jack and Cora (St. Peter) Scazza Lawrence was a postal worker at the Turnkey Post Office in Providence for over 30 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a Purple Heart recipient. As a boating enthusiast, he was also an avid fisherman.  Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Linda Sturtevant and her husband Russell; two grandsons, Jason Sturtevant and his wife Christine and Eric Sturtevant and his wife Helena, and two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Parker Sturtevant. He was the brother of the late John Raso. His funeral will be held Friday, April 28, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:45 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Ave, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Scandinavian Assisted Living Activities Fund, 50 Warwick Ave, Cranston, RI 02905.
