JULIETTA CALIFANO( AMOROSO), 85, of North Providence, passed away Wednesday, May 8 2013 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Gaetano “Guy” Califano. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Loretta (Carnevale) Amoroso.
Julietta had been employed by various local jewelry manufacturers and also worked at Cal’s Corner Restaurant in North Providence for 10 years. She was an advocate for Special Olympics and the Fogarty Center. She was a great mom, wonderful wife and a devoted grandmother. She had a passion for family, crossword puzzles and blackjack.
Besides her husband of 62 years, she leaves three sons, Stephen A. Califano and his wife Carole, Richard A. Califano and his wife Gina, Anthony J. Califano and a grandson Stephen A. Califano, Jr. She was predeceased by her son Robert Califano. She also leaves three sisters, Grace Gambardella, Anna Phaneuf and Margaret Amoroso. She was the sister of the late Filomena Amoroso, Phil, Romeo, Joseph, and Victor Amoroso and William Lawrence.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Visitation Monday 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made the John E. Fogarty Center, 220 Woonasquatucket Ave., North Providence, RI 02911.
