Joseph D. Ferrante, 91, of North Providence, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Hope Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Josephine (DeMarco) Ferrante. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Nicola and Vienna (Castellucci) Ferrante. Joseph was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines. He was a letter carrier for 31 years, working out of the Turnkey Post Office in Providence, and a part-time athletic trainer at Brown University. As a young man, he was a member of the St. Ann's Church 1943-1944 State Championship basketball team, and was inducted into the Wanskuck Boys Club Hall of Fame. He was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots and appreciated all sports. An avid story teller, he amused and delighted family and friends.
