Joseph T. Buontempo, 94, of North Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 8, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Carmela A. (D’Agostino) Buontempo. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Cosmo and Dora (Piano) Buontempo.
Joe worked for Philips Electronics for many years before retiring from there. An Army Veteran who served in the Korean war. Joe emceed many parties over the years and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. Among his favorite pastimes were telling stories, tinkering and watching football.
A loving and devoted father and grandfather, he is survived by his two sons, Joseph T. Buontempo Jr., his wife Berit and Mark A. Buontempo; and three grandchildren, Michael, Joshua and the late Jessica. He was the brother of the late Ralph and Anthony Buontempo, Anna Germani, Grace Buontempo and Jenny Carlone.
Visitation will be held Monday Morning, January 12, 2026 from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave., Providence. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
