John Savastano

June 18, 1941 — February 10, 2024

John Savastano, 82, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024, with his loving family by his side.  He was the beloved husband of Katherine (Majhrovicz) Savastano for 52 years.  Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Carmella (DelMonico) Savastano.

John had many passions, baking and cooking for his family, enjoying the outdoors, and caring for his rescue Greyhounds.  John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. John co-owned and operated Savastano’s Restaurant with his brothers for many years, before retiring.  A true patriot, he served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard.  John also earned the distinction of the Colonel’s Orderly Award during his time in the service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his cherished son, Jason Savastano; his two treasured grandchildren, Justin and Alyssa; and his four siblings, Angela Dambra and her husband Vincent, Salvatore Savastano and his wife Gail, Frank Savastano and his wife Marie and Louis Savastano and his wife Audrey.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 20, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 4th St., North Providence.  Interment with Military Honors will be private; and visitation is respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the RISPCA, 155 Plan Way, Warwick, RI  02886.
