John A. Iacona, Sr., 86, of North Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 12, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Grace R. (Mancuso) Iacona. Born in Providence, he was the son of John and Antonetta (Carlone) Iacona.
John owned and operated John A. Iacona Contracting & Building for many years before retiring. He enjoyed boating, fishing, skiing and bowling with family and friends. He was a kind and selfless man always ready and willing to help family, friends and neighbors. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the RI Builder’s Association and the North Providence Zoning Board.
A loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his son, John A. Iacona, Jr. and his wife Phyllis; his daughter, Gina M. Winn; his sister, Celeste Ripanti; six grandchildren, Gianna, John Ralph, Matthew, Sarah, Rachel and Aliana; four great-grandchildren, Isobel, Hannah, Grayson and Bennett as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Michael Iacona, Joseph Iacona and Theresa Abatiello.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Catholic Prayer Service at 10:00 a.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence. Interment will follow at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, April 18, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police.
