Jacqueline (Jackie) M. (Menghi) Canton, age 97, of Providence, RI, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Golden Crest Nursing Centre on Monday, January 26, 2026.
She was the beloved wife of the late John (Jack) A. Canton, with whom she raised her family in Sharon, MA.
A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jackie is survived by her children, Kathleen Williams and her husband John Williams, and Christopher Canton and his wife Nancy Tullie. She was the cherished grandmother of Jenny (Williams) Shih, Meghan (Williams) Grummer, Chris Canton, Jr., and Kerry (Canton) Silva, as well as a proud great-grandmother of five.
Jackie spent her working career as an executive assistant for the Superintendent of the Sharon, MA school system.
In retirement, Jackie and Jack relocated to Sunapee, NH, where they enjoyed the company of many longtime close friends. Together, they shared a love of the outdoors, including skiing, golfing, sailing, biking, and reading on the beach.
Jackie was born in Cambridge, MA, the daughter of the late Hugh Menghi, Sr. and Josephine (Cosgrove) Menghi. The family later settled in Watertown, MA, where she grew up with her late brother, Hugh Menghi, Jr., and proudly graduated from Watertown High School.
Her burial will be private in Belmont, MA.
