Listen to Obituary

Helen Ann (Montaquila) Feole, 99, of North Providence, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026. Born in North Providence on September 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Imondi) Montaquila, and sister of the late Mary Gianquitti and Angelo Montaquila. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Alfred A. Feole, with whom she shared 72 years of marriage. During those years, they enjoyed attending musicals at PPAC, traveling around New England, vacationing at Cape Cod, and celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in Italy.

Helen graduated from North Providence High School. Her mathematical ability was evident early as she was hired by the Industrial National Bank on Federal Hill. After raising her four children, she was hired by Rhode Island College in 1973 to serve RIC's Foundation and the Offices of Development and Alumni Affairs.

Over her 28 years tenure, Helen provided support for nine vice presidents and directors of development. According to Director Brown, Helen "represented the institutional history of the division", as she was often called upon to recall details regarding donor calls and gifts. She began her record keeping when the Foundation's assets totaled, $33,000.00, and her original ledgers were all written by hand.

Helen's legacy is one of love and devotion to her family and home. Her greatest happiness was time spent at family gatherings, especially during the holidays at her children's homes both in and out of state.  While she enjoyed baking, gardening, and reading, Helen prided herself on keeping a well-kept home where she often added little decorative touches right up until this past Thanksgiving. She and her husband Al worked together throughout the years to complete various construction projects to keep their home and yard updated and inviting to all who visited. The last few years, Helen enjoyed entertaining family members and friends or just spending quiet moments by herself reading in the backyard sitting among her favorite plants and flowers.

Helen is survived by her four children, Marcia (Daniel) Harrop, John Feole (Donna), Paula Feole, and Joan Davis (Dennis Wielepski). She leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Visiting Angels, especially Carolyn Ainsworth R.N., and CNAs Terri DeBartolo and Arnovia Navarro. The care, patience, and compassion they bestowed upon our mom every day brought her much comfort.

Helen's life will be celebrated at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Visiting hours are 9 -10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Augustine, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Rhode Island College Foundation (ric.edu/memorialgiftshelen) and the National Shrine of St. Jude, Claretian Missionaries, 205 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606 (www.shrineofstjude.org).
