Giuseppe Capalbo

September 15, 1940 — September 12, 2025

Giuseppe “Joe” Capalbo, 84, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025.

He was the husband of Rose Marie (Cambio) Capalbo.

Born in Acri (Cosenza) Italy, he was the 9th of 10 children born to the late Antonio and Maria Rosa (Zanfini) Capalbo. After living in Germany for 6 years, at the age of 25, he came to America in 1966 aboard one of the prestigious Italian Ocean liners. In America he became a skilled tool maker at the Ballou Company. He valued education and history and loved to converse about current world events, especially any news pertaining to Italy. He enjoyed his Sunday mornings on Federal Hill, having a cup of espresso with his friends. Most of all, he loved, and was very proud of, his daughters and granddaughters, including his grandpuppy Bella Luna.

In addition to his wife, Rose Marie, Giuseppe is survived by his daughter, Susan Conti and her husband Joseph; his cherished grandchildren, Gianna Conti and her fiancé Michael Del Greco, Bianca Conti, and his son-in-law, Stephen Corsi. He also leaves behind three loving sisters: Angelina Gaccione, Annunziata Mangano, and Sister Esterina “Enrica” Capalbo, of the Order of Little Workers of the Sacred Heart, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Corsi, and by his siblings Maria Ritacco, Angelo Capalbo, Michele Capalbo, Ida Gaccione, Assunta Altomari, and Vincenzo Capalbo.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Hartford Avenue, Providence. Visitation is respectfully omitted, and burial will be private.
