GIOACCHINO "JACK" COPPOLINO, Sr., 89, of Providence, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving and adoring family. He was the beloved husband of Lucy (DeRobbio) Coppolino for 61 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Elvira (Gibalerio) Coppolino.
Jack was the owner of LuJack's Market in Providence for 34 years. In addition, he worked for the Providence Water Supply Board, retiring in 1983. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a Former President of the Young Italian Imperial Club on Federal Hill in Providence. Jack was an avid NY Yankees fan and a gardener but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Joachim Coppolino, Jr. and his wife Christina, Lori-Jean Meek and her husband Robert, June DiLorenzo and her husband Steven, and Robyn Charette and her husband Joseph; a brother, Ralph Coppolino; a sister, Isabella Coppolino; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mary Donley.
Visitation will be held Saturday Morning, October 21, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, 472 Atwells Ave., Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
