Obituary

Evelyn J. Degli Angeli, 92, passed away after a life filled with love, faith, family, and a genuine kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born in Providence on March 20, 1934, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Nicola Cifelli and Margaret (Badessa) Cifelli. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Degli Angeli, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and family.

Evelyn was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. In her early twenties, she worked as a bookkeeper for Trifari Jewelry until her marriage in 1959. Later, after her children were grown, she returned to the workforce as an administrative assistant for local businesses in Providence, where she was highly regarded for her charming personality, warm spirit, and genuine kindness toward everyone she met.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Evelyn was a devoted parishioner of St. Pius V Church since 1949. Over the years, she generously gave her time and talents to both the church and St. Pius School, serving as a classroom volunteer, lunch monitor, and Eucharistic minister. She was also actively involved with the Knights of Columbus Dillon Council alongside her husband throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Her faith was an important part of her life, reflected not only in her years of service but also in the compassion and generosity she extended to others.

Above all else, Evelyn's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and took particular delight in being a grandmother to her five precious grandchildren. She cherished every opportunity to be part of their lives, helping care for them, attending their sporting events, and proudly watching their holiday concerts. These everyday moments brought her immeasurable happiness, and her love and support were a constant presence in their lives.

In her later years, Evelyn resided at Elmhurst Extended Care, where she continued to make a lasting impression on those around her. She was beloved by fellow residents and staff alike for her gentle nature and thoughtful spirit. Even in this chapter of her life, she never lost her instinct to care for others. She was always ready with a warm smile, a comforting hand to hold, or simply a quiet, empathetic presence when someone needed it most.

Evelyn will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her steadfast faith, her generous heart, and the simple yet meaningful ways she made others feel loved and cared for. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, compassion, and the importance of being there for one another. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She leaves behind her three beloved children: Lisa McLaughlin of Exeter, Rhode Island; Paul Degli Angeli of North Conway, New Hampshire; and Steven Degli Angeli of Rochester, New York; as well as her five cherished grandchildren, Emily and Grace Brodeur and Matteo, Oliver, and Eleanor Degli Angeli, who were among her greatest blessings.

Evelyn's legacy is one of faith, family, and kindness—a beautiful light that will continue to guide the family she loved so dearly.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
