Esther Cardente, 98, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Cardente. Esther is remembered by her loved ones for her caring spirit, neverending love for her family, and her affinity for roosters.
Born in Miami, Fla., she was the daughter of the late John and Ida (Weekley) Hinote. Esther was the mother of Mary Principe and Donna Domenicone, grandmother of six grandchildren, Kristine DeComo (Peter), Karalyn Smith (Danny), Kimberly Domenicone, William Kapanakis and Michael Domenicone (Osjha). Esther is survived by her sister Jewel Peterson. She was the great grandmother to 10, Gabriella DeComo, Abigail Smith, Daniel Smith, Kristiana Smith, Ella Domenicone, Juliana DeComo, Samantha Kapanakis, Christopher Kapanakis, Gia Domenicone, and Alexa Domenicone. She was the grandmother of the late Gregory Kapanakis and sister of the late Linda Mallone, Leslie “Buford” Hinote and John Hinote.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral which will be heldon Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St.Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Esther’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
