Dr. Maged Sulaiman Khoory, 88, a hematology-oncology specialist, born November 26, 1937, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on November 29, 2025 in Boston, MA. Dr. Khoory was completely devoted to his family, and practiced his trade for 65 years. He treated, assisted, and touched so many people in his life that, if you had been related to Dr. Khoory’s world, you are likely torn between having a heart that is broken and one that is filled with gratitude for having been lucky enough to be part of his circle.

Dr. Khoory was born in Mosul, Iraq. He was an honors graduate from the University of Baghdad College and Medical School in 1961. Dr. Khoory interned at the University Hospital in Baghdad and later at the Atlantic City Hospital in New Jersey. His residency was at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was a Fellow at the University of Michigan and a research associate at the Mayo Clinic. He was a Fellow at the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Hematology. He was affiliated with the Carlisle Regional Medical Center in Carlisle, PA, the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, and the Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr Khoory also became the Chief of Department of Medicine at Atlantic City Hospital in NJ, and he was associated with the Department of Oncology at Bryn Mawr Hospital in PA. Dr. Khoory spent his last years performing Locum Tenens assignments in medical facilities at various locations around the country including Seattle, Bellingham, and Spokane, WA, Hershey and Harrisburg, PA, Portland, ME, Newburyport and Worcester, MA, all of which were an attestation to total devotion to his craft, his patients, and his family. He was loved and respected by his family, peers, and patients, and the world is a much emptier place without him. A man of very great and deep faith, he knew and exclaimed that his final place would be with the Lord.

Dr. Khoory is survived by his beloved sister, Suad Al Khoory, and was predeceased by his beloved siblings, brothers Antwan, Fadi, and Joseph, and sisters Yaldus Hasso and Nuhad Khoory. Dr. Khoory and his siblings were the children of the late Priest Sulaiman Alkass Matti, one of the most respected Syriac Orthodox priests in Iraq, and beloved mother Latifa Jardak. Dr. Khoory is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand nephews, all of which will miss him and his sage guidance dearly.

Arrangements will be courtesy of Maceroni Funeral Home in North Providence, RI. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 8, 2025 at the Saint Ephraim’s Syriac Orthodox Church at 215 Washington Street, Central Falls, RI, followed by internment at the North Burial Ground in Providence, RI.
