Diane E. Mooney-Rench, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, community volunteer, and world traveler, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.
Born to the late Frederick and Viola Keech, Diane was raised alongside her siblings Ted, Norma, Carol, Marilyn, and Janice. Family remained at the center of her life, and she cherished the bonds she shared with her loved ones throughout the years.
Diane dedicated much of her professional life to serving her community and the State of Rhode Island. She served as a member of the Rhode Island Personnel Appeal Board and worked for the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Throughout her career, she was also employed by Ace Hardware and fulfilled her lifelong passion for travel as the owner of Travel Experts Travel Agency.
A proud and active member of her community, Diane served on the Board of Directors of the North Providence Union Free Library and worked as a North Providence School Crossing Guard. She was also a longtime member of the North Providence Women's Democratic League, where she formed many lasting friendships and contributed countless hours of service.
Diane was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Mary Ellen Mooney, and her parents, Frederick and Viola Keech.
She leaves behind her loving son, Michael K. Mooney and his wife, Claudette; her cherished grandson, Michael A. Mooney; and his wife Cassandra, and her adored great-granddaughters, Theo Mooney and Carmella Mooney. She is also remembered by the significant companions who shared her life's journey: Owen E. Mooney Jr., Salvatore Mancini, and Earl L. Rench, as well as her siblings Norma Hezog, Marilyn Martin, the late Ted Keech, Janice Surprenant and Carol Wilson extended family, and many dear friends.
Diane had a passion for exploring the world and was fortunate to travel extensively, visiting many countries throughout her lifetime. Her adventures brought her great joy, but nothing compared to the love she had for her family. She especially treasured time spent with her son, grandson, and great-granddaughters, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
Diane will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to public service, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence, followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
