Colleen A. Walker (Keenan) RN, 86, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond A. Walker. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Brennan) Keenan.
She was a graduate of Bay View Academy (1954), St. Joseph School of Nursing (1957), and Rhode Island College (1976), and was a longtime school nurse for the North Providence School Department from 1971 before retiring in 1996.
Colleen was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan. In her spare time, she loved to knit and do word search puzzles. She also loved to travel and was very proud of her Irish Heritage. Colleen was a longtime parishioner of Mary Mother of Mankind (St. Lawrence) Church. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s dance recitals and sporting events. Family was everything to Colleen, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Michael P. Walker (Karen A. Walker), James E. Walker and Raymond G. Walker (Elizabeth S. Murphy); three grandchildren, Michael P. Walker Jr., Kendra A. Walker and Brendan S. Walker, and a sister-in-law, Norine Keenan. She was the sister of the late Harry C. Keenan.
A special thanks to her longtime caregiver Ame Thompson, who allowed Colleen to remain at home. In addition, thanks to Michelle and her nurse Shannon along with all the Nurses, CNAs and Staff at Beacon Hospice for their care.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 9 AM, from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Friday, 4-7 PM.
