Anthony J. Califano, "Tony Cal", 54, of Smithfield, passed away Tuesday June 13, 2017 at home. Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Gaetano Califano and the late Julietta (Amoroso) Califano. Anthony was always filled with love and laughter. He was actively involved with the Fogarty Center and worked there in various capacities for 38 years. He also delivered bread for Palmieri's Bakery for several years. He was a longtime participant in the Special Olympics, was an avid bowler, and loved to watch baseball and soccer. He loved spending time at Cal's Corner Restaurant and enjoyed his books and magazines. Besides his father, he is survived by his brothers, Richard A. Califano and his wife Gina, and Stephen A. Califano and his girlfriend Jennifer Alexander; a nephew, Stephen A. Califano, Jr., and his "adopted" brother, Peter Iacobucci and his wife Francine. He was the brother of the late Robert Califano. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
