Anna M. Russo (Calcagni), of Providence, passed away peacefully on her 90th birthday, Monday, April 19, 2021, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Russo, Sr., and the daughter of the late Peter and Augusta (Pescosolido) Calcagni.
A lifelong resident of the Elmhurst neighborhood, Anna was a high school graduate and a teacher's aide for the Providence School Department for 20 years. But she will be remembered most for the boundless love she gave to her family and to her many close, lifelong friends. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, hosting holiday gatherings, accepting visitors for coffee around her kitchen table (also known as the "do drop inn"), baking and giving away her famous Italian egg biscuits and Christmas cookies, and keeping in touch over the phone with those she loved. She spent much of the last 32 years of her life babysitting her many grandchildren, and, more recently, her first great grandchild. She will be forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Anna is survived by her four children, Anthony Russo, Donna Villella and her husband Bruce, Susan Pangborn and her husband Joseph, and Dr. Patricia Russo-Magno and her husband Arthur; a brother, Angelo Calcagni; a sister, Filomena Campanelli; seven grandchildren, Dr. Nicole Pangborn and her husband Dr. Christopher Rea, Jessica Villella, Esq., Ryan Pangborn and his wife Brittany, Joshua Pangborn, and Evan, Derek and A.J. Magno; and her great-grandson, Colsen Gennaro Pangborn. She was the sister of the late Gene Calcagni, Marie Arsenault, Eda Hayden, Theresa Hendricks, Levia Simonelli and Louise Calcagni.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Mrs. Russo's funeral services will be private.
