ANGELO GRANDE, 91, of Providence, entered into the Lord’s arms surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Maria (Santoro) Grande. He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Goggin) Grande.
A loving father and grandfather, he is survived by a son, James P. Grande Sr., Ret. Lt. NPFD and his wife Shirley; two daughters, Maria (Grande) Minchew, LTC, U.S. Army Ret. and her husband Morris, and Kathleen (Grande) DeRiso, RN and her husband Robert; a brother, Americo Grande and six grandchildren, Stephanie and James P. Grande, Jr., Michael Angelo and Madeline Minchew and Mary Kate and Julia DeRiso. He was also the brother of the late Alfred, Anthony, and Joseph Grande, Agnes Leveille, Rosina Grande and Louise Valletta.
Angelo was a Navy Veteran of World War II, a devout catholic and a daily communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He owned A. Grande Delicatessen and worked for the USPS where he retired in 1987 after 24 years of service. Mr. Grande had three great passions in life - his faith, his family and his winemaking which he passed on to us all. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
His funeral will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 538 Broadway, Providence. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
