Agnes R. (Cerio) Geer, 98, of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, of natural causes, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Johnston and raised in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Thomas D. and Mary (DaRosa) Cerio. Agnes lived a long life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and love.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Geer, and by her siblings: John (Mary) Cerio, Edward (Carolyn) Cerio, Thomas (Irene) Cerio, Josephine (Thomas) Zarrella, and Mariann (William) Millette. Agnes is survived by her brothers Anthony J. Cerio (Karen) and Robert Cerio (Jean), with whom she shared enduring family bonds.
Agnes was a devoted mother to Thomas Geer (Elizabeth) of Warwick and Constance Murgo (Paul) of Melbourne Beach, Florida. She was a cherished grandmother to Thomas Geer III, Paul Michael Murgo, Thomas Murgo, and Pamela Murgo, and a proud great-grandmother to Joshua, Sofia, Victor, and Evelyn Murgo. Known affectionately as “Auntie Ag,” she was deeply loved by her many nieces, nephews, and their families, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
In her final years, Agnes was tenderly cared for by M & B, whose compassion and dedication made them part of her extended family. Agnes was the ultimate homemaker, steadfastly caring for her family through many moves necessitated by her husband’s active military service. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering support were the foundation of her family life.
A woman of deep faith, Agnes was strong in her belief in Our Lord and was a faithful communicant of St. Pius V Church in Providence. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence, Rhode Island, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius V Church, Eaton St., Providence. Burial will take place at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
