Maxamillian M. Lacombe

October 7, 1994 — November 10, 2021

Maxamillian M. Lacombe, 27, of Cranston, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Born in Providence, he was the son of Ian Lacombe and Heather Murphy.

Max was a talented auto mechanic and a graduate of Cranston High School West. He enjoyed the simpler things in life. He was happy to spend his time working on cars, hanging out with his friends and occasionally his family.

Max will forever be remembered by those who knew him for his tremendous strength as he made a remarkable recovery from a severe brain injury three years before his passing. With an initial prognosis that offered little chance of survival and a lesser chance of a high quality of life, Max awakened from a month-long coma and spent his last three years working to rebuild his life. Before he could even feel his legs, he set the goal to relearn how to walk and within four months of his awakening he was on his feet. Max pushed himself daily to regain control of his body against many odds and he did so through sheer grit and determination. Not only did Max survive, he thrived. A little over two years after his accident Max moved into his own apartment and he was able to live completely independently in his meticulously maintained home. This seemingly simple step of life for so many was truly the symbol of his herculean efforts to overcome and adapt to the adverse results of his injuries. His fighting spirit was indelible to all who saw him on his journey.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, therapists, techs and all the others who participated in Max's care while in the hospital and in the home on his path to recovery. They gave him the opportunity for his body to heal and recover until his spirit could take the wheel. Along with extended family and friends we would also like to thank Max's friends who were integral to his return to his world with a special thanks to his close friend Chris Hong. Chris and Max shared a love for modifying cars and when Chris heard Max had awakened from his coma he showed up to the hospital with his car's tire in his hand to show Max his new rims. This was only one of many ways in which those who loved him brought him back to his life regardless of his injuries.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Madeline Plante, Marguerite Plante, Lana Lacombe and Edie Lacombe. Max is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Nicole Squillante; and his maternal grandparents, William Murphy and Stephanie Volino as well as his stepmother Angie Lacombe.

Visitation will be held Saturday Morning, December 4, 2021 from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a committal service and inurnment in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made in Max's memory for brain injury research to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Attn: Development Office, 300 First Ave. Charlestown Ma. 02129 https://giving.spauldingrehab.org/
