George T. O'Donnell

February 15, 1939 — September 21, 2020

George T. O'Donnell, 81, passed away peacefully Monday, September 21, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Mirarchi) O'Donnell for 60 years. Born in Dearborn, Michigan, he was the son of the late Michael and Violet (Riftis) O'Donnell.

George owned and operated Donnell's Hair Studio in Johnston, RI for many years before retiring. He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. It was while he was stationed with the Navy in Newport, RI that he met the love of his life, Helen.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Harold O'Donnell and his wife Nabiha; his sister-in-law Barbara Spaziano; nieces Stephanie Spaziano, Norahann Miller, Patty Daliege, Nina Fassell and Terri Vasilakis; nephews Joseph Mirarchi, Vince Mirarchi, Hal Michael O'Donnell, Michael Mirarchi and John Mirarchi; many adoring grandnieces and grandnephews, including Jack Brucas with whom George shared his great love of trains; he also leaves several Godchildren. He was the brother of the late Chuck O'Donnell and the best friend of the late Jim Dick.

Always ready with a joke and a smile, George's humor, love and warmth will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held Friday Morning, October 2, 2020 from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Donations in George's memory may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
