George William Cherry

George William (Bill) Cherry III, 80, of Johnston passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. He was the husband of Joyce L. (Carl) Cherry for 58 years. Born in Warwick, he was the son of Lydia and George W. Cherry Jr.
George spent 33 years teaching German and French at East Providence High School. He loved learning for the sake of learning, earning himself a MBA from his alma mater URI and teaching himself Norwegian. He also had a love of animals, rescuing several cats and providing them with happy lives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Michael, his son Steven and his wife Jeanne, his daughter Cynthia D'Angelos and his granddaughter Sara D'Angelos. He will also be missed by his final rescue, Lucky the cat.
Visiting hours are respectfully omitted and funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. James Episcopal Church in North Providence, RI.
