Fiorita DiLorenzo

March 25, 1929 — April 23, 2020

Fiorita DiLorenzo (Chiodo), 91, of North Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 23rd surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband, John DiLorenzo of 59 years; daughter, Lori DiLorenzo; son John DiLorenzo and his wife Marisa, all of North Providence; three sisters, Josephine Chiodo, Yolanda DelConte and Stella McVeigh; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Raffaele and Serafina (Militerno) Chiodo.  She was the sister of the late Giuseppe, Rosario, Emilio, Luigi and Antonio Chiodo. Fiorita was employed at Uncas Manufacturing, Douglas Drugs and RN Koch Inc. before retiring.  She was also a lunch lady at Stephen Olney School for several years.  She was a woman of great faith and would say the rosary every day. As a devout parishioner of St. Anthony Church in North Providence, she taught CCD for many years, administered Holy Communion as a Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed selling raffle tickets for the parish feast. She was always ready to go on vacation or day trips with family and friends.  She enjoyed dancing and attending shows at the Warwick Musical Theatre every summer.  She also enjoyed jewelry, clothes shopping, cooking and doing word search puzzles.  She looked forward to having breakfast at Dunkin Donuts every Saturday morning with her daughter Lori. She loved the Christmas Season as she found great joy in setting up her Manger display, decorating the tree and the entire home with beautiful festive decor.  She will be especially remembered for baking her Italian cookies at Christmas time.   Consistent with precautions due to Covid-19, Fiorita's funeral and burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston will be private.  Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, One State St., Suite 200, Providence, RI  02908.
