Domenica Russo

December 2, 1929 - October 12, 2021

Domenica "Minnie" Russo passed on to her eternal rest on Monday, October 11, 2021 with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Carmino D. Russo for 66 years. She was the daughter of the late Cesare and Domenica "Minnie" (Cipriano) Giarrusso. Born in Providence, Minnie moved to North Providence upon her marriage to Carmino where she lived until her passing. Along with her husband, she leaves two precious daughters, Lisa D. Russo and Carolyn A. Russo. She also leaves a brother, Domenic Giarrusso, as well as her extended Sczerbinski family, nieces, nephews, godchildren and loving friends and caregivers. She was predeceased by her sisters, Jennie Esposito, Adeline DeFazio, Mary Simeone, Virginia Broccoli and Dora Spagnoli, and her brother, Anthony Giarrusso. At the time of her death, she was active with the UCT (United Commercial Travelers, The North Providence Chapter of the AARP, The North Providence Senior Center, and a volunteer at St. Thomas Church. She was the director of a senior citizens singing group called The Happy Notes for many years and always loved to sing. Until her retirement, she was employed by the North Providence School Department, initially as a school crossing guard and then later as a teacher's assistant with children of special needs, which she found very gratifying. Her kind nature, concern for others, and volunteer involvement will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 9 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Friday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations In Minnie's memory may be made to the Hope Alzheimer's Center, 25 Brayton Ave, Cranston, RI 02920.
