Ralph Florio, 69, of Johnston, passed away, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia, on Thursday, July 11, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Paolilli) Florio for 47 years. Born in Johnston, he was the son of the late Mario and Celia (Marinaccio) Florio.
In addition to his wife, Ralph leaves his two children, Raffaele Florio and Stephanie Fraser and her husband Tim, and his grandchildren, Raffaele, Savella, Robbie and Nora; his brothers Pasco and James Florio and a sister, Susan Marinaccio; his brother Mario (Butch) Florio predeceased him. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
Ralph, a Johnson and Wales Business School graduate, started his career at NCCI and later worked at Church Mutual Insurance Company as a Regional Representative for many years before retiring due to his illness. Ralph was an avid sports fan who loved the Yankees and the Providence College Friars. Summertime and boating were also among his favorite things, and he was known for his epic Fourth of July cookouts. He was especially proud to be a U.S. Army war veteran.
Ralph’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 9 a.m. at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd., Johnston. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 - 7 p.m.
