YVONNE R. (GERVAIS) COLSON, 73, of North Providence, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Robert Colson, Sr. Born in Johnston, she was the daughter of the late Romeo and Hannah (Barker) Gervais.
Mrs. Colson had worked as a C.N.A. at various local nursing homes before retiring. She loved crocheting, cooking and caring for her family, friends and neighbors. For many years she was known as “The Voice” of North Providence West Little League.
Besides her husband of 55 years she is survived by two daughters, Karen Brousseau and her husband Wayne, Susan Fitzpatrick and her husband Edward; five sons, Robert Colson, Jr. and his wife Danita, Richard Colson and his fiancé Lisa Cadieux, Craig Colson and his wife Anissa, Steven Colson and his companion Dr. Melissa Murphy and John Colson and his wife Jennifer; 8 grandchildren, Edward, David and Matthew Fitzpatrick, Melissa Brousseau, Laura Colson, Thomas Charette, Craig Colson, Jr. and Julie Colson; two brothers, Richard and Donald Gervais; two sisters, Irene Ferrante and Doris Caruso; and her K9 Companion, Buddy. She was the sister of the late Romeo Gervais, Jr., Roland Gervais and Beatrice Ferrante.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Ave. Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
