Wojciech S. Kurpiewski

Wojciech S. Kurpiewski, 50, of North Providence, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 8, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Ewa (Giera) Kurpiewski for 31 years. Born in Warsaw, Poland, he was the son of the late Zdzislaw and Irena (Jefimow) Kurpiewski.

Wojciech was a truck driver for the City of Warwick. A professional athlete, he was an accomplished kayaker who competed in two Summer Olympics. In 1992 he won a silver medal in the K-2 500 m kayak sprint event at the Barcelona Games. He was also a five time silver and bronze medalist at the ICF Kayak Sprint World Championships.

A loving husband and father, besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Ariel and Kajetan Kurpiewski.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 391 High St., Central Falls. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wojciech’s memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, 391 High St., Central Falls, RI 02863.
