Winifred T. McGrath

WINIFRED “WINNIE” T. McGRATH (TRIPP), 94, of North Providence, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. McGrath. Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Eldon and Sally (Eller) Tripp.
Mrs. McGrath began her career at the Pentagon where she met her husband Thomas. They were transferred to Nuremberg, Germany after the war where they were married. She worked as a stenographer at the German war trials, and after returning to the United States held various Personnel positions at several Veteran Administration Hospitals before retiring. She was dedicated to her husband and seven children and worked tirelessly throughout her life to care and provide for them. She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by seven children, Thomas J. McGrath, Jr, Timothy L. McGrath, Kevin C. McGrath, Stuart A. McGrath, Nancy K. McGrath, Colleen W. McGrath, Bridget A. McGrath and pets, Sammy and Chippie; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly, Megan, Meredith, Kevin, Brian, John and Leslie as well as seven great grandchildren, TJ, Julie, Parker, Patrick, Luke, Landon and Aidan. Baby Rocky and Tripp Lee are soon to be born. She was the sister of the late Bradford Tripp, Betty House, Ruth Steinle and Sally Kennedy.

Special thanks to the Rhode Island RICU for their extreme kindness to our mother and family during this difficult time.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 12 noon at St. Catherine Church, 74 Simmons Rd., Little Compton. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Little Compton. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence. Donations in Mrs. McGrath’s Memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
