Walter H. Cogean Sr.

Walter H. Cogean, Sr., 78, of North Scituate, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna M. (Hafferty) Cogean. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William T. and Lillian E. (Smith) Cogean.

Walter was a truck driver for M.N. Cartier & Sons for over 20 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 251. He was also a volunteer fireman at Choptmist Hill Fire Department in Scituate.

He leaves four sons, Joseph Cogean, Walter Cogean, Jr., Michael A. Cogean, Sr. and Charles Cogean; a brother, Edward Cogean; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late William, George and Wallace Cogean and Shirley Williams.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Graveside Service at 11 a.m. in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Friday 5-8 p.m. Please omit flowers.
