VINCENT A. PICONE, 88, of Providence, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He was the beloved husband of Anna A. (Pompei) Picone. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Josephine (Della Porta) Picone.
Vincent was a Patrolman with the Providence Police Department before retiring and later worked as a Gold Vault Supervisor for Hospital Trust and Bank Boston. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, an Usher at St. Augustine Church and a Red Sox and Patriots fan. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his devoted wife of 65 years, he leaves a son, Vincent J. Picone and his wife Doreen; three daughters, Jo-Ann Iacobucci and her husband Ronald, Rosemary Colantonio and her husband Guy and Judy Penta and her husband James; two sisters, Theresa DeSisto and Thelma Cataldo; seven grandchildren, Amy Reed and her husband Roland, Mark O'Connor and his Fiancé Emilee, Vincent M. Picone and his wife Erin, Michael Picone and his wife Jackie, Nicholas Colantonio and Shannon Carberry, Alicia Colantonio and Alexander Colantonio and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Angelo “Pic” Picone.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning, June 11, 2013 from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
