THOMAS A. ELBY, SR., 78, of North Providence, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Irene ( Stanish) Elby. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Alexander and Martha Elby.
Thomas was employed as a postal worker until his retirement. He was a member and officer of the National Association of Letter Carriers and was a WWII Army Veteran.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Thomas A. Elby and his wife Jeanne, Earl Elby, Anthony Elby and Alexander Elby; two daughters, Adele Gallo and her husband Albert and Dianne Lepore and her husband Michael; a sister. Catherine Zaroogian; four grandchildren and two great grandsons. He was the father of the late Allen P. Elby.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9am, from the MACERONI Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. VISITATION Monday 5-8pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
