SALVATORE A. PALUMBO, 80, of Providence, passed away suddenly Saturday, March 10, 2012 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Katy (Colafrancesco) Palumbo. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Filomena (Ricci) Palumbo.
Mr. Palumbo had worked as an insurance appraiser for Aetna and was the proprietor of S & K Appraisal. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of “The 4 Amps” and was best known for his Louis Armstrong impersonation. He was also a member of the Manton Seniors.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his son, Anthony R. Palumbo; three daughters, Janice Fabiano and her husband, John Jr., Maureen Bigelli and her husband, Dr. Angelo J. Bigelli, SallyAnn O’Donnell and her husband, Donald; seven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Shirley Carbone.
His funeral will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Eaton St., Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 p.m.
