Russell Edward Benoit

November 2, 1941 — June 7, 2014

Russell Edward Benoit passed away at the age of 72, in his home in Providence on June 7, 2014, after being diagnosed with kidney cancer a few weeks earlier.

Russ was born on November 2, 1941 to Russell and Elizabeth (Hall) Benoit in Providence RI. He was a kind, compassionate man who could easily see the good in others. Russell radiated warmth and sincere gratitude, even for the smallest things in life. He had a passion for music and made it a big part of his life. He took great pleasure in listening to and writing music as well as singing and “fooling around” on the piano. Athletics was another source of great satisfaction for him. Russ played various sports throughout his youth including junior league baseball and semi-pro football. He also worked for many years delivering propane gas. He lived in Rhode Island his entire life and he leaves behind many long-time, dear friends.

Also left behind to cherish his memory is his sister Laura Meyer of Deland, Florida, her three children, Kelly, Jimmy and Katie, and her five grandchildren: Matthew, Evie, Charlotte, Avery and Johnny.

May his beautiful spirit be carried on by his four loving daughters, Sherry Clary, Lori Barboza, Denise Bruner and Meshell Chicoine as well as through his eight grandchildren: Alex, Madison, Ashley, Tori, Isabella, Sammy, Nicholas and Frannie.

Visitation will be held Saturday Morning, June 21, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m. at the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence.
