Ronald R. DiRobbio, 66, of North Providence, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Bethany Home in Providence. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Florio and Angela (Carcone) DiRobbio.

A career educator, Ron taught at both the high school and college level. He taught for 29 years in the Business Department of East Providence High School and retired from there in 1999. Students will remember him as an exemplary teacher, under whose tutelage they could thrive. His colleagues will recall an accomplished and congenial professional, considerate and respectful to all. Ron also taught at Johnson and Wales. Upon his retirement, he volunteered as a mentor at San Miguel and taught math in the job development programs of Rhode Island College Outreach.

Ron graduated from Hope High School and later received his degree in Business Administration from Husson University. He proudly served his country in Viet Nam and then returned home to receive his MA from Springfield College. He had a keen interest in politics, finances, theatre and community, and through the RI Historic Society, served as a tour guide to adult and student groups. Kindhearted and gentlemanly, Ron had wonderful style and a love for life, learning and travel. He enjoyed fine dining, good wines, historic hotels and inns. All those he enjoyed with his family and friends to whom he was loyal, devoted and loving. Ron’s gift was his ability to make those around him feel special and valued. He will be sadly missed.

He leaves many cousins including Rosemary Napolillo, who was as dear as a sister to him and Pamela Gaglione and many wonderfull friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10 a.m. in St Lawrence Church, Woonasquatucket Ave., North Providence, followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or to Bethany Home of RI, 111 South Angel St., Providence, RI 02906.
