Robert Louis DiRuzzo, 44, of Warwick, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 1, 2009. Born and raised in Rhode Island, he was the son of Robert DiRuzzo of North Providence and the late Virginia (Spirito) DiRuzzo. He was the grandson of Louis Spirito and Amelia (Ise) Spirito.
Robert graduated from Roger Williams University and received a Masters Degree from Providence College. He worked as a mechanical engineer prior to becoming an educator of mathematics and science as well as an administrator for the Providence School Department. He was also an adjunct faculty member at Johnson and Wales University.
Besides his father and grandparents. he leaves behind four siblings, Michael D. DiRuzzo and his wife Carmela (Falco) DiRuzzo, Paul E. DiRuzzo and his wife Erin (Shelhart) DiRuzzo, Marisa A. Nardo and her husband Martino Nardo and Dina M. Silvaggio and her husband Carl J. Silvaggio; also, two nieces and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Knight St., Providence. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. BURIAL WILL BE PRIVATE. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Robert may be made to the American Mathematical Society, 201 Charles St., Providence, RI 02904.
