Robert W. Donatelli

ROBERT W. DONATELLI, 80, of North Providence, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at home. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Daley) Donatelli. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Giuditta (Urbano) Donatelli.

Mr. Donatelli was an Owner and Operator of Donatelli Building Company. He graduated from Norwich University and was honorably discharged as First Lieutenant from the United States Army. He served his community through his involvement with North Providence youth sports. He was a founder of the Buddy Basketball League, having volunteered his time for fourteen years. His proudest accomplishment was his family and being known as “pops” to everyone he met.

Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by five children, Julia Donatelli and husband Earl Nichols of East Greenwich, Thomas Donatelli and wife Leigh of North Providence, Carol Ann and Joseph Donatelli of North Providence and Kathryn Donatelli of Jamestown; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Robert W. Donatelli, Jr. and Dr. Anthony J. Donatelli and was the brother of the late A. Edmund, John, Vincent, Anthony, Joseph Donatelli and Ernestine Rocchio.


His funeral will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the MACERONI FUNERAL HOME, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
