Riverda "Joe" Silliman, Jr.

RIVERDA O. SILLIMAN, JR. “JOE”, 89, of Johnston, passed away at home on Sunday, February 10, 2013 just two weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie M. (Innocenti) Silliman. Born in Benton, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Riverda O. Silliman and Zoie E. (Sanders) Silliman.

Joe was a WWII Navy Veteran and recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.

He leaves his daughter, Dr. Barbara Silliman, an instructor at PC, RIC and URI. He was the brother of the late Geraldine Gaither, Lillie Brunson and Alexander W. Silliman.

His funeral will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 8 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. Visitation Thursday 4-6 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Thomas Church Food Pantry, 65 Fruit Hill Ave., Providence, RI 02909.
